The High Fiver

High Fiving great causes and good times. A series of parties with the all the proceeds going to charity.

For our next party we celebrate 3 years of High Five at 2022nq on Saturday 5th October

High Five for 2012!

A little round up of what we’ve achieved since we first High Fived!..

When we held the first High Five party back in October 2010 it was only meant to be to be a one off event, I mean you could only expect to put on a party with such a big line up once. And so we partied like that. To be honest with you as I dragged myself home on the Tuesday morning  (the party had started on Sunday afternoon) I wasn’t thinking of the next High Five but by the end of that week following the feedback we’d received and more importantly seeing how much we had raised for Macmillan Cancer Support I knew we must do it again.

Now with three parties under our belt and a lot of good times I pleased to say that in total we have raised a total £4,800 for charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, The Meningitis Trust, The Sadie Rose Clifford Appeal and Parkinson’s UK.

Each party has had its own little twist making that extra bit special whilst maintaining the concept of having a shit hot line up and supporting a great cause, we’ve been lucky enough to have the following DJ at High Five:

Audiojack, Buckley, PBR Streetgang, Gavin Herily, Dave Beer, Tristan Da Cunha, Frenchy, Krysko, Greg Lord, Death on the Balcony, Ryan Shaw, Jacob Kelly, Matt Playford, Rob James, James Barnsley, Jon Woodall, Si Morrell and many more, over 50 DJs have graced the decks in just three parties!

We continue into 2012 with two more parties in planning, this time away from our original home The Loft to add something new to the High Five concept but we will still be keeping it good old solid house music all night long!

High Five for Halloween: Fundraising total and prizes

Thanks to everyone who made it down to the last High Five party at The Loft on 28th October it was an absolute winner in every way. People were loving it and we have raised more than we did do in previous High Five parties. Anyway, now that the dust has settled (and the smoke cleared) a couple of loose ends to tie up with regards to the amounts raised for the charities and the prizes.

Money for Parkinson’s UK We have now sent £400 to Parkinson’s UK. This was what we had agreed to raise for them before the event.

Money for The Sadie Rose Clifford Appeal We have in excess of £1,100 to send to this appeal so far but we don’t want to stop there in which case we are keeping the JustGiving page (http://www.justgiving.com/highfiveforhalloween) open for the foreseeable future.

Prizes There is little doubt in anybody’s mind that High Five for Halloween went off and on the night we the DJs were absolutely smashing it and the crowd was loving it and so we decided not to stop the music for the raffle, we apologise for this but please remember that all the money is going to a very good cause.

Anyway, we are going to roll the prizes into one so one person is going to win 2 tickets to

Asylum 8th Birthday Tickets                                    Saturday 18th November

Coloursound Featuring Groove Armada                  Saturday 3rd December

Coloursound with Sebastian Leger    Saturday 26th November

In addition we have a selection of tracks from some of the DJs who played on the night, this consists of 12 pieces of vinyl plus CDs.

WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THE DRAW FOR THIS ON FRIDAY AT 9AM AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO COLLECT THE TICKETS AND VINYL FROM LEEDS CITY CENTRE THAT DAY. TO ENTER MAKE A DONATION TOWARDS THE SADIE ROSE CLIFFORD APPEAL VIA OUR JUSTGIVING PAGE

https://www.justgiving.com/highfiveforhalloween

WE ARE ASKING FOR £10 MINIMUM DONATION AT THIS STAGE AS WE LOOK TO MAXIMISE THE AMOUNT RAISED FOR THE CHARITY. EVERYBODY WHO HAS DONATED AT LEAST THIS MUCH WILL BE ENTERED INTO THE DRAW.

Finally another big thanks to all the DJs, everyone at The Loft, all our helpers and to everyone who has come down to High Five, as we approach £5,000 for charity we can safely say that this event is a keeper!

HIGH FIVE FOR HALLOWEEN PROMO MIX No. 1 - AUDIOJACK

In order to get people in the mood for this Friday’s High Five party I asked a few of the DJs to do us a little mix to give us a flavour of what we’re playing. Here’s one from Audiojack’s Jamie Rial, some classics on this!

High Five for Halloween, Friday 28th October at The Loft

We return to The Loft for High Five for Halloween on the 28th October, the party is in aid of two very worthwhile causes, the Sadie Rose Clifford Appeal and Parkinson’s UK. More details of the causes are below.

It being High Five and Halloween we have got a monster line up, with loads of your favourite DJs from Leeds and beyond playing as you’ve not seen them before, with full Halloween makeovers. We’re giving them half an hour each to show us what they can do, so expect the very best in haunted house music as they will all be getting fully into the Halloween spirit.

We still have a couple more DJs to confirm but already the line up is looking scarily good, and we’re very excited to have an additional live show in the form of a

High Five for Summer: The Cause

High Five is all about good causes cos its better to give. Last year the money raised at High Five for Macmillan raised £1,500 which was part of ongoing fundraising my myself, Alan Hall (Irish) and Matt Wilden (Tidy). Together we raised over £10,000 grand. This year I was approached by a good friend of mine, Rich Painter, who wanted some help putting on a fund raiser for the Meningitis Trust. Rich has provided me with a few words about why the cause is so important to him and his mates…

"Each spring, a group of Leeds University alumni raise as much money as they possibly can for the Meningitis Trust. Past fund raising events have included world record breaking football matches (we have broken the record for the World’s longest 11-a-side football game twice!) and rowing the English Channel, we have raised thousands of pounds for the cause in the process.

We chose to raise money for the Meningitis Trust because a dear friend of ours, Jamie Burdett, passed away with the illness in 2007. He was only 26. The Meningitis Trust are committed to helping the friends and family of victims through support and counselling, whilst also conducting research into cures and vaccines. Their help and support has been greatly appreciated by many a family up and down the country.

By raising money for the Meningitis Trust, we’re also keeping the memory of our friend alive. Jamie was a keen sportsman, and loved his music. That is why we have chosen to put on a music night this year to raise some cash as Jamie would have loved such an event. Please dig deep and donate as much as you can for such a worthwhile cause. And have a cracking night!”

You can make a donation before you even get to the party here http://www.justgiving.com/highfiveforsummer plus you will be entered in a draw for a prize worth over £500.
